I'M DIGGIN' IT - JUNE

I'M DIGGIN' IT - JUNE

Happy Monday! We had a great day yesterday at A Taste of Fingal in Newbridge House and Gardens. It was so well organised and I rolled home after eating rings around me! I must admit though, walking past all the footloose and fancy free people hanging out at the wine and prosecco tents put the longing on us. Shane was like.. Can you believe people bring their kids to Electric Picnic? What are they on? It would seriously be the ultimate torture. So we are thinking of making a break to Stradbally this year (sans Tomo). I keep that weekend off every year, just in case. So basically while on a family day out surrounded by lots of children, bouncy castles, face painting and petting farms, we managed to hone in on the music and beer tents and talk each other into going this year. Rubber arms.

Anyway, another new blog series begins today, careful now, I'm starting to lose the run of myself. I'm going to try to do a post every month with all the things that I'm loving at the moment. It will be anything from fashion to food, interiors to hair or even travel to beauty news. Basically all the things I'm diggin' (can I get away with diggin'? Like I'd never say it out loud but I like it so I'll go with it, for now.)

RECENT PURCHASES

First up I'll tell you about my recent purchases, starting with the Tom Ford Soleil Blanc body oil. Shane would have divorced me if I bought the perfume so it's a compromise (although I'll probably still buy the perfume at some stage, whoops). It's a fresh summery, beachy smell which I LOVE! I've used the Maison Martin Margiela "Beach Walk" every summer for the last 5 years and when I start spraying it (normally in May) it just reminds me of every summer memory in recent years, I love it - but maybe I'll try the Tom Ford one for a change???

In case I haven't mentioned already (lol) we're going to Italy in August and I've gotten plenty of white dresses (mandatory, obvs), as well as buying all the gingham and stripes ever made (see below) but I'm also finding myself partial to a spot of coral. I wear a lot of turquoise jewellery and I think they go really well together. How about this number from Mango? A steal at €35.95! Very comfortable but big fitting so I'd size down. I'll also need to shorten the straps as I'm pretty sure I'd be done for indecent exposure.

STOLKHOLM COLLECTION - IKEA

I've always been keen on the Stockholm collection from Ikea and I have so much from it at home but they've a few new bits and oh my are they beautiful! I am seriously in love with these rattan pieces. This cabinet is just stunning. It would look so good in any room of the house and the chair has little bit of a bohemian feel. Imagine it with crisp white walls, a beautiful Moroccan rug and a massive house plant. It's a pity Shane has placed an Ikea embargo on me.

STRIPES & GINGHAM

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm going to Amalfi but I can't stop buying clothes that are either striped or gingham. I just have this image in my head of people in Capri and they're all wearing beautiful linen stripes and looking so chic. Alas, it's going to be so hot that I will almost certainly give up trying to look stylish on Day 2 and revert back to the same maxi dress that I've had for the last 7 holidays. .

RATTAN/STRAW BAGS

Are you sensing a theme? I'm all over rattan like a cheap suit this year. I ordered the round bag below over a month ago and I'm still waiting on it because it was a preorder. It was shipped last week, coming from Australia, and I'm verdy verdy excited about it! Prepare for some rattan spam on Insta!

There you have it, the most basic lust list. Instagram is awash with rattan, gingham, stripes and of course the obligatory peony spam and I'm diggin' it all - along with the rest of the world! #theultimatebasicbitch
