A LAMP REVIVAL

A LAMP REVIVAL

I was searching for so long for a large table lamp. You know that annoying thing when you have something in your head and nothing you see matches it?! I wanted a bright colour with a bohemia/Moroccan feel but everything I saw online was in the States and I do love to to see and feel something before I buy it. I'm not a massive online shopper, I don't get the same kick.

Anyway, I was sauntering through TKmaxx one day and I spotted a lamp. I didn't like the colour or the shade but I could really see the potential.

I had a little tester pot of Annie Sloan in "Provence" that I had been dying to use on something. (originally bought it to try on a sideboard but chickened out at the last minute - I thought it was just a little too bright for a large piece of furniture). I knew it would be just right for this! I love the Annie Sloan paint for small things like this and it dries nearly instantly which is brilliant for extremely impatient people like me!

Next up, that black shade had to go, so I just picked up a white shade in Ikea from the Jara range and it just transformed into a completely different lamp!

I really like how it turned out and I love the colour especially against the white. Turquoise reminds me of being on holidays and I have little flashes of it throughout the house so it fits in perfectly! I'm sure there are lots of things in your home that you are tired of looking at, remember it's so easy to make something feel new again!

On a side note the bookshelf looks NOTHING like this on a regular day. Tom and I have creative differences.
