OUR ITALIAN AIRBNB
So let's talk about our beautiful apartment and location for the full duration of our time in Italy. We chose Airbnb again this year and to be honest I can't really see us staying in hotels again any time soon. Having an actual home while away is the only thing that works for us. Tom likes his own space and can't fall asleep if we're in the same room so hotels just don't work any more. It's also great to have a kitchen because we all need breakfast the minute we wake. Like, the minute we wake. #hangryvibes
After trawling Airbnb for weeks I stumbled across this gem "The Sunny Mansard" in Piano Di Sorrento. It had the best reviews I've ever seen. Sabina has even been awarded a super host and after staying there for three weeks I can see why. Being an actual tour guide makes her a fountain of knowledge. She loves and talks so passionately about her country that it makes you want to visit every part of it. She needs to be on the tourism board!
Sabina lives in the same building with her husband and 3 beautiful children. On the day we arrived she greeted us from the bus and walked us to the apartment (which was literally a 2 minute walk). Then her son Phillipo came up to us and gave a walk through of the apartment. Showing us how everything worked - including the fully black-out automatic blinds. Heaven.
Then they left us to settle in and have a little sleep and some food. The next day she text to tell us to let her know whenever suited and she could call up and give us some information and advice about the area. It was so nice not to be bombarded with all that straight after a flight so I think that was really thoughtful. We had Sabina's number and were just able to text if we ever had any questions (and because we're a pair of dopes, we had a lot, like, a loh, a loh)
The apartment itself is just so perfect. Small and cute and everything you could need. Hand painted tiles, lava stone steps and beautiful little touches throughout. We absolutely loved it. It was also spotless, it's like nobody has ever stayed here! Our nerves were gone letting Tom loose around the place. We spent the whole time, saying NO TOM, PUT THAT DOWN TOM, DON'T TOUCH THAT TOM.
My parents even came over for a week and stayed with us. The couch turns into a very comfortable bed. They loved the apartment too.
We also found the location perfect. It's just 4 minutes on the train to Sorrento and the train station is only a 3 minute walk from the apartment. There is a beach close by too. A 15/20 minute walk, or a shuttle bus goes there every hour and leaves practically outside the building. We loved Piano, plenty of cafes and restaurants and at weekends there was music in the square at night with bouncy castles for the children. It's a real family orientated place. It's a quiet little town, with no tourists and it was so lovely to escape the crowds here every evening.
