THE MASTERCLASS
So I have some really exciting news that I can finally tell you all about. For the last year I have been working on and perfecting my signature Masterclass. I wanted to create something really different and exclusive - something that captures my love of simple styling and helps you to create a brand and style that sets you apart from everyone else. There is so much I want to share with you that I have learned along the way. This is a one of a kind class designed for hairstylists and aimed at building your confidence and giving you a voice within this busy wedding industry.
The reason I'm so passionate about organising these classes and encouraging people to upskill is because I was once a person who was petrified of up-styling. Genuinely, when I was salon based, I would dread the thought of seeing the word "updo" in my column. Now I LOVE it. Why? - because I've learned a few simple tricks on my journey as an editorial stylist and it has completely changed the way I feel about styling. I really want to share all of this information with you.
These classes will be demo only. This means you won't need a model or a kit. You will be watching closely as I do slow, in-depth demos on some of my most requested wedding styles. The class will be small and intimate and you can take notes and pictures at different stages of the styling process. During each demonstration, I will be talking about how to prep different hair types and about choosing the right tools and products for each particular style.
After every demo, we will take pictures of the model and I'll discuss some of my favourite photo apps. I'll also offer advice on how to take the best pictures and how to edit them.
My kit will be there on display in it's entirety and I will talk through my favourite products and equipment. This is all honest and genuine information about the day to day items that I NEED in my bag, what I really love to use, what I think is a waste of money and what I just have to have at every wedding I do.
You will receive a handbook designed by the incredible people at Dusty Boy Designs with a breakdown of each style we have gone through, products used, my kit contents, tips on taking good pictures of your work, making the most of your social media, advice on how to manage emails and bridal trials and much more.
We will go through the following four styles in really great detail and more styles if time allows.
Β
THE HOLLYWOOD WAVE
Nobody believes me when I say that this is one of the easiest styles to recreate. I will show you a way to achieve these glossy uniformed waves that is so easy you'll be able to do it in your sleep after this class.
THE PRETTY HALF-UP
This style accidentally happened for me about 3 years ago when I was trying to hide some unruly layers. I posted the picture and now it's hands down my most requested style. It's easy and quick - so perfect for weddings. During the prep of this style I will show you how to do relaxed beachy waves.
THE SOFT UPDO
As we all know, soft, natural and effortless looking updos are sometimes the hardest styles to create. I'll share my tips on achieving this style - it took me a while to master this one! We will do both one with a parting and one swept back.
THE BRAIDED UPDO
This boho updo is becoming a firm favourite! I'll show you how to make more of the braids on fine hair and we'll talk about which of these styles work best on which hair types.
I'm happy to announce that the class will take place in the beautiful surroundings of The Space Salon, Drumcondra on Sunday March 5th. Please email me at joannekellythemasterclass@gmail.com for more information about the classes and to check availability and pricing. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you!
