THE BRIDAL LOOKBOOKS - MASTERCLASSES

THE BRIDAL LOOKBOOKS - MASTERCLASSES

After the success of my masterclasses last year, I've decided to put something together this year too. I have a brand spanking new format, these are shorter classes with a practical session at the end; and as before, this is a small and intimate setting. I want everyone to be able to see perfectly and feel free to walk around the model, take pictures, ask questions etc. Just like the last time, I hope I've created something really different and exclusive - something that captures my love of simple styling.

Instead of putting together a class that had a bit of everything, I wanted to hone in on the different types of weddings that I cater for and tailor courses to suit each popular bridal party style. This means that you get to watch intensive step by steps on the type of styles you really want to learn how to do.

It's such an incredible advantage to be able to arrive at a wedding and think to yourself, ok, the bride has a soft, swept back chignon so what will work with the rest of the bridal party? What will make everything fluid and work together beautifully? You should then be able to carefully craft a bridal party look that seems both thought out and seamless but not too contrived.

CLASS OVERVIEW

Firstly, we will take a look at my kit, I will talk through my favourite products and equipment. This is all honest and genuine information about the day to day items that I NEED in my bag, what I really love to use, what I think is a waste of money and what I just have to have at every wedding I do.

I'll then perform two in-depth demo's, answering any questions you may have. Feel free to take notes and pictures at different stages of the styling process. During each demonstration, I will be talking about how to prep different hair types and about choosing the right tools and products for each particular style.

We'll then start the practical work on our models, carefully going through each step. I'll be there to guide you or answer any questions that you may have.

Lastly, we'll take pictures of our models and chat about my favourite apps for editing photographs and I'll include some tips for making the best of your social media accounts. I will also have a print out of notes for each student containing all the important information from the class.

Obviously I really hope that we have lots of fun but mostly I want you to leave at the end of it feeling super confident that you can master all of these looks. I'm passionate about ongoing education within our craft and I firmly believe that watching other stylists work can only invigorate you and to give you a fresh and exciting new outlook for this amazing career.

I'm excited. Are you?

THE HOLLYWOOD

This class will feature the ever popular "Hollywood Wave". Made extra popular by my beautiful bride Suzanne Jackson. The growing popularity of this style means that it's vital to have the skill-set to nail this look. This class will also showcase a Hollywood inspired pin-up, that is, a classically beautiful upstyle which will be the perfect accompaniment for a bridal party with those red carpet waves.

With each passing year, more and more brides are making the decision to go for "undone hair". Whether it's down with a little pinned back into knot/rope braid or a super textured updo with braids, this is going to be something you will want to perfect- because we all know as hairstylists, that the hardest thing to do is to make something look like you haven't tried at all. One of the things that I struggled with in the beginning was being certain that my loose updo's were actually secure for the day. Let me share with you the best tips, tools and products that I've found the most helpful with this.

Oh how I love minimal styling, whether it's just gently tousled waves or simple swept back pin-ups, these looks are starting to rapidly creep in to my most requested styles. On my masterclasses last year, when I asked stylists what their biggest up style fear was, the answer was an overwhelming majority for "textured, swept off the face updo's". People were struggling with making it look separated and loose but not to look backcombed. So this class will feature a step by step demo on creating effortles, relaxed waves and will also showcase that elusive minimal updo.
