VALENTINES GETAWAY

Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links invited Shane and I to stay on Friday and experience their lovely Valentines Day package (I still can't believe that people actually offer me these lovely things). January had taken it's toll on me and I was longing for a little luxury. Our old house is so so cold, so I was just looking forward to thawing out. There is nothing like having a bath in a beautiful hotel, sauntering down to dinner, couple of drinks by the fire and then back to the room for telly and robes. Oh, and don't get me started on breakfast. My favourite thing EVER is hotel breakfasts. 

The setting is just beautiful here with stunning views overlooking the velvet strand. It's a place you can really switch off, yet a half an hour brings you into town, less if you take the dart. You can have fancy dinner in The Seaview Restaurant, which is absolutely fabulous! Alternatively you could find a cosy nook beside the fire in The Jameson Bar and order the yummy chicken wings and burger. This bar is my kind of bar. 

The spa is absolutely beautiful too and the last time I was there I had a facial. I never ever have facials. I had the Carita 24 carat gold one. Now, I know I don't have much form of reference but it was INSANE. Read about it here because I won't do the description justice but I have to say I was glowing after it! I also don't know many places that offer this view whilst getting your fortnightly shellac. Heaven! 

I couldn't help but think that it would be such a gorgeous wedding venue with endless photo opportunities. Very important, obviously. The property is surrounded by true romantic history too. When you take a walk by the Secret Garden, look out for the plaque dedicated to the love and marriage of two great whiskey dynasties Jameson & Haig - the Lux, Amor, Pax plaque. It was a gift the Jameson and Haig family received from King Edward VII ,who was a regular guest at the Jameson’s Portmarnock retreat. It makes a fitting background monument in such a romantic corner. Also, their wedding ballroom is currently being renovated so I'm pretty sure this place is going to be the place to get hitched!
