MY TOP 5 AIR PURIFYING HOUSE PLANTS
Does anyone remember that houseplant that everyone had in the 80's? The one you were made stand beside for every photo whilst gently touching a leaf? #eightieslolz
We all seemed to avoid plants for the next couple of decades but they are well and truly back with a bang. For one, they can add so much style to a room (I've already a budget set aside for an enormous fiddle leaf fig, you know, for when I own my real house) - but aside from the aesthetic benefits, it's the health benefits that have so many people racing to stock up.
Modern homes are a lot more toxic than previous generations. Cleaning products, synthetic building materials and furnishings in homes and offices can emit a variety of toxic compounds. Indoor air pollution can also be caused by bacteria and car exhaust fumes because these contaminants can find their way inside. All of this can cause symptoms of nausea, tiredness, dizziness and headaches.
The great news is that plants can actually purify the air. Even NASA calls them "nature's life support system". Plants absorb some of the particulates from the air at the same time as they take in carbon dioxide and then through photosynthesis, oxygen is generated as a by-product.
Okay, that's the science bit, now lets talk SHTYLE. I've listed my Top 5 favourite plants with great health benefits. I'm sure there are other ones that are even better for you but they're not as easy on the eye. Always with the pretty.
